Social in Stamford, Connecticut. The Prep Cook will support daily kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, following recipes, maintaining an organized workspace, and ensuring the kitchen is ready for efficient service. Responsibilities Prepare ingredients according to recipes, portion guidelines, and daily prep lists Wash, peel, chop, slice, measure, and portion meats, produce, sauces, and other ingredients Label, date, rotate, and properly store prepared food using FIFO procedures Monitor ingredient levels and notify the Head Chef when items are running low Follow all food-safety, sanitation, and allergen-handling procedures Maintain a clean, safe, and organized prep area Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, work surfaces, and storage areas Assist with receiving and properly storing food deliveries Minimize food waste by following portioning and storage standards Support line cooks and other kitchen team members as needed Complete opening, closing, and assigned cleaning duties Perform other kitchen-related responsibilities as directed by management Qualifications Previous prep cook or professional kitchen experience preferred Basic knife skills and knowledge of food-preparation techniques Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, recipes, and prep lists Understanding of proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment Dependable, punctual, organized, and team-oriented Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent quality Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Food Handler or ServSafe certification preferred Physical Requirements Ability to stand and move throughout the shift Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive kitchen tasks Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds Ability to work around heat, steam, refrigeration, sharp utensils, and commercial kitchen equipment What We Offer Competitive hourly compensation based on experience Employee dining discounts Opportunities for training, cross-training, and professional growth A collaborative and fast-paced kitchen environment
