The Cook will prepare nutritious, well-balanced, and appealing meals for our residents while following individual dietary needs, prescribed diets, food-safety standards, and facility procedures. The ideal candidate is organized, attentive to detail, and experienced in preparing meals for seniors or within a healthcare setting. This position requires patience, teamwork, and a genuine commitment to supporting residents' health and well-being. Responsibilities Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and beverages according to the facility's approved menus Follow residents' prescribed diets, food allergies, dietary restrictions, and texture-modified meal requirements Prepare meals according to standardized recipes, portion sizes, and scheduled serving times Ensure meals are nutritious, properly presented, and served at safe temperatures Review dietary instructions and communicate any concerns or changes to the appropriate staff Operate kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, stoves, mixers, slicers, and other appliances Follow proper procedures for food storage, labeling, preparation, handling, and sanitation Monitor and document food and refrigerator temperatures as required Maintain the kitchen, food-preparation areas, utensils, equipment, and storage spaces clean and organized Assist with receiving deliveries, rotating food supplies, and monitoring inventory Report low inventory, expired products, equipment problems, or food-safety concerns to management Minimize food waste while maintaining appropriate portion sizes and meal quality Coordinate with caregivers and other staff members to ensure residents receive the correct meals Follow all facility policies, health regulations, infection-control procedures, and food-safety standards Qualifications Previous cooking experience in an Assisted Living Facility, nursing home, hospital, senior-living community, or similar healthcare setting is preferred Experience in food service, restaurant kitchens, or dietary departments is required Knowledge of special diets, food allergies, portion control, and texture-modified meals is highly desirable Understanding of food-safety, sanitation, storage, and temperature-control procedures Ability to follow menus, recipes, dietary instructions, and meal schedules accurately Safe and proper knife-handling and kitchen-equipment skills Ability to stand for extended periods and lift food supplies, pots, and kitchen equipment as needed Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills Dependable, professional, patient, and attentive to residents' needs Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred Current food-handler certification or willingness to obtain one Benefits Competitive pay Flexible scheduling Supportive and professional work environment Opportunities for growth Paid training and continuing education opportunities, if applicable Apply Today If you are passionate about cooking and want to make a meaningful difference in the daily lives of seniors, we encourage you to apply and join our Assisted Living Facility team.
