The Roost Bistro at Roo Mountain Vineyards is seeking talented, dependable, and passionate Line & Prep Cooks to join our growing culinary team. Located in the beautiful North Georgia mountains, The Roost Bistro is a farm-to-table restaurant focused on elevated mountain cuisine, exceptional hospitality, and thoughtfully prepared food. Many of our herbs, vegetables, edible flowers, and seasonal ingredients are grown right here on our property, allowing our kitchen team to create dishes that celebrate the flavors of North Georgia. Position Summary As a Line & Prep Cook, you will play a critical role in the daily success of our kitchen by preparing ingredients, executing menu items with precision, maintaining exceptional cleanliness, and supporting the culinary team during service. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, high-quality kitchen and takes pride in producing consistently excellent food. ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation Prepare vegetables, fruits, herbs, proteins, sauces, soups, and other ingredients according to standardized recipes. Portion ingredients accurately and efficiently. Prepare daily mise en place before service. Assist with butchery, seafood preparation, and specialty menu items as needed. Ensure all food is properly labeled, dated, rotated, and stored. Line Cooking Prepare menu items to recipe specifications and presentation standards. Work efficiently on assigned stations during lunch and dinner service. Maintain consistency, timing, and quality under pressure. Coordinate with fellow cooks to ensure smooth service. Communicate effectively with the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and kitchen team. Kitchen Operations Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout each shift. Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures. Assist with inventory and stocking. Help receive and organize deliveries. Minimize food waste and use ingredients responsibly. Assist with dishwashing and general kitchen duties when necessary. Teamwork Support fellow kitchen staff during busy service periods. Maintain a positive, professional attitude. Be willing to learn new techniques and recipes. Help create an environment built on respect, accountability, and teamwork. Qualifications We're looking for someone who: Has previous kitchen experience (2+ years) Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Has a passion for cooking and hospitality. Is dependable and punctual. Works well under pressure. Pays close attention to detail. Is eager to learn and improve. Maintains a positive attitude. Takes pride in cleanliness and organization. Experience in fine dining, farm-to-table restaurants, wineries, hotels, or upscale restaurants is highly preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and work in a busy kitchen environment. Comfortable working near heat, sharp equipment, and commercial kitchen machinery. Schedule Full-time and part-time opportunities available. Lunch, dinner, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands require. Flexible scheduling available for qualified candidates.
