Located in Honolulu's Chinatown, PEWA is a locally owned restaurant and cocktail bar from the team behind Pono Potions. Our menu focuses on approachable, thoughtfully prepared food made with quality ingredients — from pastas and shareable plates to steaks, salads, and seasonal dishes — served alongside a craft cocktail and beverage program. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their food, works clean, moves with urgency, and can stay composed when dinner service gets busy. PEWA is a growing restaurant with a close-knit team, so we especially value people who communicate well, help each other out, and genuinely care about putting out a great product.

THE POSITION

This position is specifically for our PM/dinner kitchen team and will average approximately 14-20 hours per week . Evening and weekend availability is important. This is a great fit for an experienced cook looking for a consistent second job, someone balancing school or another position, or a strong up-and-coming cook who wants additional restaurant experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Execute menu items according to PEWA recipes, portions, and presentation standards Set up and maintain an organized station for dinner service Cook efficiently and consistently during both normal service and high-volume rushes Complete assigned prep and communicate prep needs to the kitchen team Maintain proper food storage, labeling, rotation, and FIFO procedures Follow food safety, sanitation, and temperature-control standards Maintain a clean and organized station throughout the shift Assist with closing, cleaning, and kitchen breakdown Communicate clearly with fellow cooks, FOH, and management Help wherever needed — we are a small team, and nobody is too precious to jump in when the restaurant gets slammed

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Previous restaurant or line-cook experience preferred Comfortable working in a fast-paced dinner service Reliable, punctual, and able to consistently work scheduled shifts Strong sense of urgency without sacrificing quality Clean, organized, and attentive to detail Able to follow recipes and maintain consistent portioning and presentation Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team Evening and weekend availability Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift up to 50 lbs. Current food-handler certification or ability to obtain one
