Job Description
Marriott is seeking a Cook Helper to support kitchen operations in a fast-paced hotel environment. The Cook Helper will assist cooks with food preparation, basic cooking, portioning, and plating while following recipes and Marriott quality standards. Responsibilities include washing, chopping, and measuring ingredients; setting up and breaking down stations; maintaining clean work areas and equipment; and following food safety, sanitation, and allergen guidelines. The role works closely with chefs and culinary staff, offers opportunities to learn hotel kitchen operations, and supports excellent guest dining experiences across Marriott's global brand. Responsibilities Assist cooks with basic food preparation, chopping, measuring, and mixing ingredients Set up, stock, and break down kitchen workstations and prep areas Support simple cooking, portioning, and plating according to recipes and standards Follow food safety, sanitation, and allergen handling procedures Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces Receive, store, and rotate food supplies following FIFO practices Coordinate with chefs and culinary staff to ensure timely service Dispose of waste and maintain overall kitchen cleanliness Follow Marriott brand and quality standards for food presentation Assist with inventory counts and reporting low stock items Required Skills Basic knife skills Food preparation and portioning Food safety and sanitation Kitchen equipment operation Recipe and portion control Time management in a fast-paced kitchen Basic cooking techniques Cleaning and dishwashing procedures Inventory rotation (FIFO) Teamwork and communication
