Company Overview Decatur County Hospital (DCH) is an 11-bed Critical Access Hospital located in Leon, Iowa. DCH offers a comprehensive range of healthcare services, including emergency care, laboratory, radiology, surgical procedures, rehabilitation, and specialty clinics. As part of a well-respected healthcare network, DCH is committed to providing high-quality patient-centered care to the community. Up to $5,000 Sign-On Bonus for Highly Qualified Candidates $2,000 Employee Referral Bonus Available Summary Decatur County Hospital is seeking a Cook to prepare and serve high-quality, nutritious meals for patients and cafeteria guests. This position is responsible for meal preparation, food presentation, food safety, kitchen operations, and supporting catering and special events. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to providing excellent customer service and food quality. Key Responsibilities Prepare hot and cold foods using approved menus and recipes. Ensure meals are prepared and served on time while maintaining quality, appearance, and food safety standards. Monitor food temperatures, kitchen equipment, and inventory levels. Assist with patient tray service, cafeteria operations, and catering events. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment. Support menu planning and help manage food costs. Interact with patients to ensure satisfaction and accommodate dietary preferences. Cross-train and assist throughout the Dietary Department as needed. Minimum Qualifications 2+ years of healthcare or food service experience strongly preferred. ServSafe certification preferred or ability to obtain within one year of hire. Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Ability to perform medium physical work, including standing, walking, lifting, and food preparation activities throughout the shift.
