Job Description

The Sun Valley Cook plays an important role in supporting daily kitchen operations by preparing high-quality food, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and following established culinary procedures . This position is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build their culinary skills, gain experience in a professional kitchen environment , and contribute to a collaborative team focused on quality , consistency, and guest satisfaction .
Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain a constantly safe, clean, and sanitary work environment Prepare foods according to recipes and/or house standards Practice proper food storage principles Understand and exhibit appropriate Garde-Manger skills to enhance the appearance of food items Prepare foods efficiently according to recipes and/or house standards Preparation of stocks, soups, sauces, salads, vinaigrettes, dressings, hors d'oeuvres, and appetizers Prep, trim, and portion proteins; break down fish, shellfish, and crustaceans Grill, roast, braise, poach, and/or sauté exacting specifications Maintain a constantly safe, clean, and sanitary work environment Observe the mechanical safety of kitchen equipment and report maintenance needs to the supervisor
Qualifications:
Possess a sound understanding of culinary terminology Understand and carry out detailed written or verbal instructions Ability to learn and handle kitchen cutlery efficiently and safely using kitchen equipment and utensils for various fruits, vegetables, and herbs Ability to identify and safely use kitchen equipment and utensils Exhibit supervisory role when needed, exhibiting professional appearance and attitude Understand nutrition, portion control, costing, and elimination of food waste Ability to operate all kitchen equipment safely Understand and carry out innovative practices Exhibit extraordinary drive and passion for food Possess exceptional organizational and creative skills Work in, guide, and lead a team environment with enthusiasm and pride Follow kitchen grooming standards Engage in physical activities like standing for long periods, walking, and utilizing hands for tasks that involve gripping, handling, and reaching Can safely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds
