Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our culinary team. The Cook will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of meals in accordance with established recipes and safety standards. This role plays a vital part in delivering high-quality food service to our guests or residents, ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong culinary skills, excellent communication with kitchen staff, and a commitment to food safety and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Prepare and cook meals according to menu specifications, dietary guidelines, and recipe adherence Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, ovens, and other appliances Assist in menu planning by suggesting innovative dishes and ensuring nutritional balance Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area by following proper cleaning protocols and sanitation standards Handle food safely by practicing proper food handling techniques and adhering to safety standards in production Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and serving times Support catering events or special meal requests with professionalism and attention to detail Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner while maintaining quality standards Assist with inventory management by monitoring supplies and notifying management of shortages Follow all safety regulations related to food production, storage, and equipment use Requirements Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or related roles within the food industry or restaurant environment Knowledge of dietary department practices and dietary aide experience is preferred Strong knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques and portion control Familiarity with food safety management systems and safe food handling procedures Ability to follow recipes accurately while demonstrating creativity in meal presentation Experience operating kitchen equipment such as mixers, fryers, ovens, and refrigeration units Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with kitchen staff and service teams Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety Prior experience in catering or large-scale meal preparation is advantageous TJB01
