This is a great fit for someone who likes staying busy, takes pride in putting out good food, and can keep themselves organized without needing someone looking over their shoulder all night. Our kitchen can go from steady to slammed pretty quickly, especially on busy weekend nights. You'll be cooking, prepping, stocking, cleaning, keeping an eye on what you're running low on, and handling the little problems that inevitably come up during a shift. You don't need to be a trained chef but we aren't looking for just a line cook either. We're much more interested in finding someone who is reliable, works clean, learns quickly, and takes ownership of their shift. About Martha's Martha's Vineyard is a nightclub and bar in the heart of downtown Springfield, Missouri. We're known for our drag and burlesque shows, large dance floor, and creating a fun, welcoming environment for everyone who walks through our doors. Our kitchen is just one more thing that adds to the experience patrons have come to expect, serving food throughout the night to patrons who might be stopping in for a snack, grabbing something between shows, or fueling up before getting back on the dance floor. What You'll Be Doing Prepare and cook menu items consistently and efficiently Complete food prep before and throughout your shift Keep the kitchen stocked and organized Monitor ingredients and supplies and restock before they become a problem Maintain a clean workspace throughout the night Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and temperature-control procedures Communicate with bartenders and management when needed Help receive, organize, and put away kitchen supplies Complete cleaning and closing duties at the end of the night Provide friendly service when interacting with patrons Notice problems and work toward solutions instead of waiting for someone else to handle them Jump in wherever needed — because a busy night doesn't always go according to plan What We're Looking For Must be at least 21 years old Dependable and able to show up ready to work Self-motivated and comfortable working independently Able to stay organized while handling several orders or tasks at once Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and teamwork skills Willingness to learn and take direction Good attention to cleanliness, food quality, and consistency Able to be on your feet for the majority of your shift Able to lift and carry typical kitchen supplies, food cases, trash, and similar items Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is preferred, but we're willing to train the right person Reliable transportation Schedule This is a part-time position with shifts primarily available on Friday & Saturday's approximately 5:00 PM-1:00 AM Availability for most weekend nights is crucial. Compensation $14/hour + tips Tips vary based on business volume and the shift worked. Currently, cooks can generally expect approximately $50-$125 in tips per 2 week pay period, with the potential for that to increase as our culinary operation continues to grow.
