Job Description
Kitchen Lead / Lead Cook Frida's | University City, Missouri Full Time | Evenings and Weekends Required Integrity drives everything we do at Frida's. We do not take shortcuts. We are looking for an experienced cook who leads by doing. The right person understands that a successful service starts with mise en place and makes sure the kitchen is prepped, stocked and organized before the first ticket comes in. Frida's is a scratch kitchen with a vegetable focused approach. We do not rely on butter or excessive oil to create flavor. We want someone who has a genuine interest in vegetables, is open to different cooking techniques and wants to understand why we prepare food the way we do. Responsibilities Make sure every station is properly prepped and ready for service Lead the line while actively working alongside the team Work grill, sauté, flat top and salad stations Coordinate timing and maintain accuracy during high volume service Monitor prep levels, quality, portions and presentation Communicate shortages and problems before they affect service Keep the kitchen clean, stocked and organized Train cooks and hold the team accountable to Frida's standards Follow all recipes, sanitation standards and allergy procedures Requirements Minimum four years of high volume kitchen experience Experience working in a scratch kitchen Ability to confidently work every station Strong understanding of mise en place and ticket timing A real interest in vegetable focused cooking Open to learning new techniques and different ways of building flavor Reliable, organized and able to communicate clearly Available to work evenings and weekends This is a hands-on leadership position with the opportunity to grow into greater kitchen management responsibility. We need someone who sees what needs to be done and does it. Precision, determination, speed, cleanliness and accuracy are required.
