Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced cook to manage a kitchen for 107 children. To oversee daily operations, ensure compliance with licensing, state, and county health regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a passion for cooking, children, and getting along with co-workers. This role involves managing nutirition, cleaning, organizing, forming meals for breakfast, lunch, and snack. Hours 7 am - 4pm but could do 7 am to 2 pm depending on how fast they are. No medical insurance Start out Pay based on prior experience cooking for childcare centers Holidays & birthdays paid off One week in July (5 days) off with pay One week off at Christmas (5 days) off with pay Paid every Friday GREAT bunch of people to work with in our childcare program Requirements Must be at least 21 years old Must go through a NC background check, TB test and physical form filled out by doctor. Have 2 forms of
ID:
license & SS Must have a high school diploma/GED Must be able to work hours stated Monday - Friday Other requirements mentioned at interview Must be physically able to handle heavy objects and manuaver in all aspects of the job Some experience in food service, restaurant experience, kitchen experience, or food industry background is beneficial but not mandatory experience in an early childhood facility would be nice but not necessary Knowledge of food safety, meal preparation, and food handling practices for NC would be a plus but not necessary, will train. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and other documentation requirements Ability to develop menus or meal plans that meet nutritional guidelines; experience in menu planning or culinary experience is advantageous Effective communication skills for interacting with children, families, staff, and community partners.
