Head Cook

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic individual to serve as our Head Cook. This position will require a good work ethic, computer skills, problem-solving skills, and the ability to supervise two other kitchen staff. This pivotal role requires a hard worker with an interest in cooking. Head Cook will be responsible for ordering, managing inventory, creating monthly menus, the ability to learn and implement federal nutrition guidelines. Summer hours will be flexible and will determine eligibility for health insurance. Candidates interested in health insurance will be required to work 12 months. Candidates who are not interested in health insurance will have the option to work the school calendar. Duties Lead and supervise the Pleasanton kitchen staff, including two assistant cooks, one who supports food prep and serving, and the other who assists in food prep and dishwashing. Training will be provided to ensure the candidate meets all NDE nutrition guidelines. Oversee food preparation, presentation, and quality control to meet or exceed school lunch standards. Manage inventory control, food safety protocols, and dietary department standards to ensure compliance with health regulations and minimize waste Develop and implement menu planning strategies to support efficient use of commodities and locally sourced fruits, vegetables and beef. Foster a culture of teamwork, leadership, and continuous improvement within the kitchen Qualifications Proven experience in food service management is preferred but not required. Proven record of attendance. Understanding of computers. Candidates will be trained on specific school software. Demonstrated expertise in food production, menu planning, kitchen management is preferred.
