About Us Newton Montessori is a licensed Montessori childcare center in Edison, NJ. We serve warm, nutritious, home-style meals every day, and the person in our kitchen plays a real part in how our children grow. We are looking for someone dependable and caring to join our team right away. What You'll Do Prepare breakfast, lunch & evening snack according to our posted weekly menu Follow all portion, allergy, and dietary-restriction requirements for each classroom Wash, sanitize, and put away dishes, utensils, pots, and serving equipment Keep the kitchen, pantry, refrigerators, and storage areas clean, organized, and inspection-ready Receive and store food deliveries; rotate stock and monitor expiration dates Record daily meal counts and temperature logs as required by licensing Communicate with the Director about supplies, inventory, and menu needs What We're Looking For Experience cooking for groups — school, daycare, restaurant, catering, or a comparable setting Comfortable working independently and finishing on schedule (meals must be ready on time, every time) Understanding of basic food safety, sanitation, and allergy awareness Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to a consistent morning schedule Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs Must pass a state background check and fingerprinting, and complete the health screening required for licensed childcare staff in New Jersey Nice to Have (Not Required) ServSafe Food Handler or Food Protection Manager certification — if you don't have it, we will sponsor and pay for your certification Prior experience in a licensed childcare or school kitchen Familiarity with vegetarian and allergen-free cooking Bilingual Why Join Us Consistent morning hours — done by noon, afternoons free Free meal on every shift — prepare your own lunch from our kitchen alongside the children's meals Paid ServSafe certification sponsorship A small, supportive team and a friendly, respectful work environment Start right away — we're looking to have someone in the kitchen by Monday, September 21
