Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Banquet Cook to join our team at The Carriage House. You will be responsible for preparing and executing high-quality dishes for large-scale banquet events, ensuring every meal meets our standards of excellence. Your expertise in food preparation, menu planning, and food safety will contribute to creating memorable dining experiences for our guests. This position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary skills in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining a focus on quality, safety, and presentation. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Prepare, cook, and present food for large-scale banquet events according to established recipes and chef specifications. Assist with preparation for buffets, plated dinners, cocktail hours, food stations, and special events. Prepare meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, starches, sauces, soups, appetizers, and other menu items as assigned. Operate kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, fryers, ranges, steamers, broilers, and other commercial cooking equipment. Set up and maintain assigned kitchen stations with the necessary ingredients, equipment, and supplies. Maintain proper portion sizes, food quality, consistency, and presentation. Read and follow recipes, banquet event orders, prep sheets, and instructions from the Chef or Sous Chef. Work closely with other cooks, chefs, banquet servers, and event staff to ensure smooth service. Coordinate timing with the culinary team so food is ready for service according to the event schedule. Assist with plating, garnishing, buffet setup, and replenishment of food as needed. Check food for proper temperature, quality, taste, freshness, and presentation before service. Follow all applicable food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations. Properly clean and sanitize cooking equipment, utensils, work surfaces, refrigerators, and storage areas. Assist with receiving and storing food and kitchen supplies when needed. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications 3 years experience as banquet/ catering cook Previous banquet or high-volume kitchen experience strongly preferred. Culinary school or culinary certification is a plus but not required. Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately. Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen sanitation. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Must be dependable, punctual, and have a strong work ethic. Must maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude. Ability to work weekends, holidays, mornings, evenings, and varying event schedules as required. Must be able to work effectively under pressure during large events. Physical Requirements Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods. Must be able to frequently bend, reach, stoop, and lift. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds . Must be able to safely work around hot surfaces, ovens, grills, fryers, knives, and other commercial kitchen equipment. Must wear appropriate kitchen attire and non-slip footwear while working. Must be able to work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment.
