SCOPE AND FUNCTION

Primary responsibility is to plan and prepare food for children in the Center, according to standard regulations for food preparation for public consumption.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY 1.

Plan the menu according to the guidance of the director. 2. Determine the size of servings to meet the necessary age requirements imposed by USDA for the children. 3. Purchase necessary foods from the local food market. 4. Prepare a food list for wholesale food items in a timely manner. 5. Determine and prepare quantities of food for each day's consumption. 6. Store food in cupboards and refrigerate properly at approved temperature. 8. Maintain a reasonable storage of food, equipment and cleaning material. 9. Be responsible for the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment. 10. Wash and sterilize all dishes, silverware, and serving utensils. 11. Perform other related duties approved by Director. 12. Assist with children, when necessary. 13. Work with staff to assure the food program is effective. 14. Stay up to date with certification with all local health and state agencies.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Must like children. Must work with staff as part of the child care team.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Experience with restaurant kitchen equipment. Have proven cooking skills. Willingness to fulfill State requirements for Food Handler and Child Protection check.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education High School or experience. Food Handler Certification Valid NJ Drivers License Shows cooking experience for Brazilian food . Reporting Structure The cook reports to the Director and/or designee established by the Director.
