Job Description
About Us! LifeChef Health is a digital healthcare platform that improves patient outcomes with nutrition education and medically tailored meals. We're looking for a Prep Cook who upholds high standards and delivers exceptional quality to our patients. About You! Our new Prep Cook is a detail-oriented professional who is capable of safely and efficiently preparing quality, healthy, exceptional food for our delivery customers (there are no front of house facilities; all food is delivered to our patients).
Essential responsibilities include:
- Receive and store provisions following all food safety protocols including but not limited to proper food labeling, storage, and temperature controls.
- Wash, peel, and cut fruits, vegetables, and other fresh ingredients to the specifications required for company recipes. Safely handle and portion proteins for cooking.
- Ensure all products are cooked according to the times and temperatures specified in company recipes. Ensure that cooked products are properly cooled and stored as per Department of Health (DOH) guidelines.
- Maintain a kitchen and prep area that meets the highest standards of cleanliness. Disassemble and clean kitchen equipment daily or as is required to maintain its safety and performance. All kitchen staff share the responsibility of washing and putting away pans, cookware, utensils, etc. to maintain an organized and efficient kitchen.
- Operate packaging equipment following approved processes to ensure the integrity and appearance of the product. Highly qualified individuals will possess all or most of the following:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience as Prep Cook.
- Knowledge of basic knife skills including chopping, dicing, chiffonading, mincing, peeling, julienning, etc.
- Ability to stand for up to eight hours. Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to thirty-five (35) pounds, as well as bend, twist, kneel, and stoop.
- ANSI-accredited food handler training certificate (or willingness to complete the training).
- Punctual and reliable with a passion for food!
Compensation and benefits:
