- We are a synergized, team-oriented agency Job Summary Peter Young Housing Industries & Treatment (PYHIT) is seeking a dependable and organized Cook to join our Adult Group Shelter team.
The Cook will be responsible for preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals for approximately 15-20 individuals while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment. Responsibilities Prepare and serve planned, nutritionally balanced meals for approximately 15-20 individuals. Follow established menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines. Ensure meals are prepared and served according to the designated schedule. Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen and food preparation area. Properly store food and monitor food supplies. Assist with inventory and communicate when food and kitchen supplies need to be replenished. Follow applicable food safety, sanitation, and health regulations. Maintain accurate records and complete basic documentation as required. Use basic computer applications and programs as needed. Work independently while maintaining a professional and respectful environment for shelter residents. Qualifications Previous cooking experience preferred; approximately 2 years of experience preferred. Ability to prepare meals for groups of approximately 15-20 people. Knowledge of basic nutrition and meal preparation. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to follow menus, recipes, and established procedures. Basic computer skills and familiarity with common computer applications. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently. Must have a reliable means of transportation to and from work, either through personal transportation or available public transportation, including CDTA. Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Compensation $17.00
