Lead Cook Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Cook to oversee food preparation within our community serving elderly residents. This role involves managing high-volume food production, ensuring adherence to recipes and dietary requirements, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and sanitation. The Lead Cook will play a vital role in preparing scheduled meals based on rotating weekly menus, operating kitchen equipment efficiently, and supervising kitchen staff to deliver quality meals in a timely manner. Responsibilities Operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently to support daily food preparation needs. Follow and ensure strict adherence to established recipes and meal plans, accommodating dietary needs of elderly residents. Manage food safety protocols, including sanitizing procedures, to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment. Prepare high-volume meals with consistency and attention to quality, supporting the dietary department's standards. Oversee grilling and other food production processes required for scheduled meals within the community. Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance on food safety, sanitation, and proper cooking techniques. Assist in planning and executing meals based on scheduled menus that rotate weekly, ensuring timely delivery for residents. Maintain inventory levels of kitchen supplies and ingredients necessary for daily operations. Qualifications Proven experience in food preparation within a high-volume setting, preferably in a healthcare or elder care environment. Strong knowledge of food safety management practices and sanitizing procedures. Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment effectively. Familiarity with recipe adherence and dietary accommodations for elderly populations. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate kitchen staff. Knowledge of grilling techniques and general food production processes. Prior experience working within a dietary department or similar healthcare setting is preferred.
