Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Follow Butterfield Market recipes, production standards, and quality expectations. Prepare food safely and efficiently while maintaining consistency and presentation standards. Follow all food safety, sanitation, HACCP, and New York City Department of Health regulations. Label, date, and properly store food items following FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout each shift. Properly operate and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and tools. Assist with receiving, stocking, rotating, and organizing inventory. Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to meet daily production goals and deadlines. Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or product quality issues to management. Perform additional kitchen and production duties as assigned. Prep Cook Responsibilities Wash, peel, cut, chop, slice, and portion ingredients for daily production. Grill, sauté, roast, and prepare food items according to standardized recipes. Measure and portion ingredients accurately for production. Assist with preparing soups, sauces, salads, sandwiches, hot foods, and other menu items. Monitor product quality throughout food preparation. Ensure ingredients are prepared and available to support production schedules. Pre-Packaging Responsibilities Portion and package prepared foods according to Butterfield Market standards. Accurately weigh products and verify portion sizes. Label, date, and seal products for retail sale and distribution. Inspect finished products to ensure quality, freshness, and presentation standards are met. Organize finished products for refrigeration, storage, or delivery. Maintain packaging supplies and notify management when inventory is low. Follow daily production schedules to ensure packaging deadlines are met.

Work Experience Requirements:
Previous commercial kitchen, food production, or culinary experience preferred. Experience with grilling, sautéing, chopping, and knife skills preferred. Experience in food packaging or food production is a plus. Basic knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP principles. Ability to follow standardized recipes and production instructions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as business needs require.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, twist, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift. Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment, knives, slicers, mixers, ovens, and other production equipment. Ability to work in hot, cold, and refrigerated environments. Manual dexterity to safely handle food, equipment, and packaging materials.
