Job Description

Breakfast Cook Nori's Village Market is looking to hire an enthusiastic person to join our kitchen team. Our mission is to deliver healthy, organic, and locally grown and produced foods to the greater Saranac Lake community. We serve made-to-order breakfast 7 days a week: Mon-Thu 7am-11am Fri-Sat 7am-12pm Sun 8am-12pm We're looking to fill a made-to-order breakfast position 2 days a week on Sunday and Monday, with the possibility of more days and hours throughout the week. The breakfast cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and assembling made to order breakfasts. We are mostly serving custom breakfast sandwiches. Most of our breakfast items are prepared on a flat top. The role rotates between hot production, cold assembly, and prep based on daily needs while maintaining strict standards for food safety, allergen control, quality, efficiency, and customer experience. Being a kitchen in a natural foods store we get to work with seasonal produce grown by some of the best local producers!
Major Responsibilities:
Executes each order with accuracy and efficiency Maintains consistent portioning and visual appeal of items Communicates product shortages, quality issues, or equipment concerns to management and team members Accurately label, date, and store all prepared items Maintaining a clean and organized workstation before, during, and after shifts Preparing food to standard recipes, yields, and portion guidelines Follows food safety, sanitation, and allergen-control protocol Supports team members during high volume periods Follows prep list and restocks station as necessary Replenishing grab-and-go and display cases as needed and assigned
Essential Functions:
Prepare, cook, bake, and assemble food items according to company recipes, portion guidelines, and production schedules Follow all food safety, sanitation, and allergen-control procedures consistently Operate kitchen equipment and tools safely and correctly Communicates effectively with Managers regarding production needs, shortages, or quality concerns Work collaboratively with team members in a fast-paced kitchen environment Arrive on time, prepared to work, and follow attendance and scheduling requirements Interact professionally with customers and staff members alike Assist with additional prep, cleaning, or organizational tasks outside primary station responsibilities
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours a day Ability to perform repetitive motions including chopping, slicing, mixing, and assembling food items Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to and approximately 40 pounds Ability to bend, stoop, reach, twist, and work at varying heights Manual dexterity sufficient to safely use kitchen tools, equipment, and utensils Ability to read recipes, labels, and production lists and accurately record information Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a commercial kitchen environment Exposure to hot surfaces, ovens, steam, sharp tools, and commercial kitchen equipment Exposure to cold environments including walk-in refrigerators and freezers for short periods Frequent exposure to food allergens including, but not limited to, nuts, gluten, dairy, and soy Work may involve wet or slippery floors and requires adherence to safety procedures Moderate to high noise levels during peak production periods May be required to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs Base pay starts at 17.50 with room for growth based on experience. Part time hours, some weekend availability a must. Option for full time hours within other roles in the kitchen. Experience preferred but willing to train an enthusiastic candidate with limited experience.
