This role is responsible for preparing high-quality food in a fast-paced, team-driven environment while maintaining strict food safety and sanitation standards. Our cooks are essential to delivering a consistent, efficient, and memorable dining experience for hockey families, athletes, and the greater Ann Arbor community. Key Responsibilities Food Preparation & Execution Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with CD Top Shelf recipes and standards Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation of all food items Execute orders efficiently during high-volume service periods Food Safety & Compliance Follow all local and state health department regulations and food safety standards Maintain proper food handling, storage, labeling, and temperature controls Complete required logs including temperature logs, cooling logs, and sanitation checklists Adhere to guidelines consistent with Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Food Code requirements Kitchen Operations Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times Assist with opening and closing kitchen procedures Properly store and rotate inventory using FIFO (first in, first out) methods Minimize waste and support cost control efforts Team Collaboration Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment Communicate clearly with management regarding inventory levels, equipment issues, or operational concerns Support a positive, team-oriented kitchen culture Equipment & Safety Operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly Report any maintenance or safety concerns immediately Follow all company safety protocols and procedures Qualifications Prior cooking or kitchen experience preferred, but not required Strong work ethic and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen operations Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately Strong attention to detail and cleanliness Availability to work nights, weekends, and event-driven schedules Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Lift and carry up to 50 pounds Work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment Compensation Hourly wage based on experience Opportunities for advancement within a growing hospitality brand Why Join CD Top Shelf?
