POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Line Cook 2 ensures consistency and steady completion of meals that meet or exceed expectations.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Sets up and stocks food items and other necessary supplies. Prepares food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces and ingredients. Cooks food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other methods according to specific recipes and standards. Prevents the spoiling and contamination of food by implementing proper sanitization practices while ensuring compliance with policies and health regulations Performs inventory checks and completes food storage logs. Know and comply consistently with standard portions, cooking methods, quality standards, kitchen rules, policies, and procedures. Assist in the cleaning of the pantry, cooking area, prep area, and dish area. Purchase the necessary supplies and ingredients. Report any maintenance, repair, or needs to the manager Follow the Centro Cultural regulations, policies, and procedures while on the job Other duties as assigned EQUITY At Centro Cultural, our foundation is equity and belonging. •oriented attitude Experience working with a diverse population, including aging, minority, and low-income populations Good verbal and written communication skills Knowledge, record-keeping, and organizational skills Passion for working with seniors in the community Ability to travel out of town to attend workshops or training Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred Requirements Ability to perform the essential functions of kitchen staff as needed Complete and pass a Background Check Food Handlers' Card or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment Ability to work evenings and weekends to meet deadlines Possess a current driver's license and auto insurance coverage Use kitchen tools and equipment safely
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is approximately 90% in a kitchen environment and 10% in other Centro locations. Working conditions are standard for a kitchen environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will: Engage in regular communication in person as well as through electronic means. Routinely use computer laptops, tablets, desk phones, photocopiers, and monitors, including digital screens. Frequently move up to 30 pounds. Centro Cultural is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
