Duties Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes, menus, and dietary guidelines while maintaining consistency and quality. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, slicers, and other culinary tools. Assist in menu planning by suggesting new dishes or modifications based on ingredient availability and customer preferences. Maintain strict food safety standards by handling ingredients properly, monitoring temperature controls, and adhering to sanitation protocols. Ensure cleanliness of the kitchen area by cleaning workstations, utensils, appliances, and ensuring proper waste disposal. Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and delivery times for optimal service flow. Support dietary department needs by understanding special dietary requirements and assisting dietary aides as needed. Experience Previous experience working in a food industry setting such as restaurants, catering services, or institutional kitchens is highly preferred. Proven skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, knife skills including slicing techniques, and recipe adherence are essential. Familiarity with food safety management practices and safety standards in production environments is required. Experience with menu planning, meal preparation for large groups or special diets, and operating various kitchen equipment is advantageous. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and support team members in delivering excellent food service experiences. Dietary aide or dietary department experience is a plus for understanding specialized nutritional needs.
