Job Summary:
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Werner Beef & Brew is a meat market, taproom, and deli featuring Werner Brewing Company craft beer, located near the heart of downtown Tillamook. The Prep Cook plays a key role in supporting kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, maintaining organized workstations, and assisting cooks with daily food preparation. This position ensures ingredients are ready and prepared according to recipes and food safety standards, while also handling basic cooking tasks such as soups, salads, and other simple menu items.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare ingredients for daily service, including washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning.
  • Measure and assemble ingredients according to standardized recipes.
  • Set up and stock workstations with necessary supplies and ingredients.
  • Assist with basic cooking tasks, including preparing soups, salads, and other simple dishes.
  • Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, and cooking food items.
  • Ensure all food is prepared, handled, and stored in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Properly label and store food to maintain freshness and quality.
  • Support kitchen staff during service as needed.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to Kitchen Manager or Team Leads.
  • Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Valid Food Handler's card, or the ability to obtain one within the first week of employment.
  • Valid OLCC Alcohol Server's permit, or the ability to obtain one within the first week of employment.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety, food service regulations, health regulations and proper sanitation practices.
  • Neat and clean appearance.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Good interpersonal relationships and ability to work effectively with a team.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Excellent mathematical, multitasking, and computer skills.
  • Comprehend and follow all company procedures and regulations regarding food handling and sanitation.
  • A courteous and efficient approach to handling customer requests, questions, and complaints.
  • Comfortable in a busy restaurant environment.
  • Work with flexibility in a continuous schedule of day, nights, holidays, and weekends.
