Job Overview Join our dedicated dietary team as a Part-Time Dietary Cook, where your culinary skills and passion for nutrition will make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents. In this role, you will prepare nutritious, appealing meals tailored to the dietary needs of our residents, ensuring safety and sanitation standards are met. Duties Prepare and cook meals according to dietary guidelines, menus, and resident preferences while adhering to food safety and sanitation standards. Assist in food production, including portioning, plating, and serving meals efficiently and accurately. Follow all safety protocols related to manual handling, heavy lifting, and safe lifting practices to prevent injuries. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, workstations, and dining areas through regular sanitation and cleaning procedures. Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including ovens, mixers, and food preparation tools. Support dietary department operations by bussing tables, assisting with food handling, and ensuring proper food storage practices. Collaborate with nursing staff and dietary team members to meet specific dietary requirements for residents with special needs or restrictions. Qualifications Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, sanitation standards (such as JCAHO compliance), and food safety protocols. Experience working with geriatric patients or in a healthcare setting is advantageous. Ability to manage time effectively in a busy environment while maintaining high-quality service. Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and adhering to workplace safety guidelines. Basic math skills for accurate portioning and meal planning. Excellent customer service skills with a caring attitude towards residents' needs. Certification in CPR and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is desirable but not mandatory; training can be provided. Physically capable of heavy lifting and performing manual handling tasks safely throughout shifts.
