Cook Job Description Summary of Position:
The Sauté Cook is responsible for executing our sauté station with precision, consistency, and urgency while delivering exceptional food quality during every service. This role prepares a variety of made-to-order dishes using sauté techniques, ensuring recipes, cooking temperatures, presentation standards, and ticket times are consistently met. The Sauté Cook plays a key role in coordinating with the kitchen team to maintain a smooth flow of service while upholding Crooked Hammock Brewery's commitment to quality, teamwork, and hospitality. Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook sauté station menu items according to company recipes and specifications using sauté burners, pasta cookers, ovens, and other kitchen equipment. Execute sauces, pastas, proteins, vegetables, and specialty dishes with consistency and attention to detail. Manage multiple tickets simultaneously while maintaining quality, organization, and speed during peak service periods. Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure all food is prepared safely and meets quality standards. Coordinate timing with grill, fry, pantry, expo, and other kitchen stations to ensure order completion. Prepare and stock all mise en place before each shift to ensure a successful service. Maintain proper portioning and recipe adherence to minimize waste and control food costs. Follow proper plate presentation and garnish standards for every dish leaving the station. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary sauté station throughout the shift. Properly label, date, store, rotate, and handle all food products following FIFO procedures. Monitor inventory levels and communicate product needs to leadership before shortages occur. Assist with daily prep responsibilities and support other kitchen stations when needed. Complete all opening, side work, and closing responsibilities according to station checklists. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures. Attend scheduled employee meetings and training sessions. Perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Manager-on-Duty. Live the brand and be a brand ambassador; must Enjoy the Ride!
Qualifications:
1-3 years of full-service restaurant sauté or line cook experience preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required; culinary education preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age and eligible to work in the United States. Strong understanding of sauté cooking techniques, sauces, proteins, seafood, pasta preparation, and vegetable cookery. Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen. Strong knife skills and knowledge of proper food handling procedures. Ability to execute recipes consistently with accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to read and follow recipes, prep sheets, and cooking instructions. Excellent time management and communication skills. Ability to remain calm and organized under pressure. Positive attitude with a team-first mindset. Must be able to stand for extended periods and frequently bend, twist, reach, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
