Visit us at www.depalmahotels.com Position Summary We are seeking a dependable, skilled and service-focused Hotel Line Cook to join our culinary team. This flexible position may be scheduled for morning, afternoon or evening shifts based on hotel business needs. The Hotel Line Cook prepares food for complimentary breakfast, restaurant and bar service, meetings, groups, events and other hotel food and beverage operations. The successful candidate will follow recipes and production standards, maintain a clean and organized workstation, support timely service and consistently prepare attractive, high-quality food. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, works well as part of a team and is comfortable supporting different meal periods and kitchen assignments. Responsibilities Prepare and cook menu items according to approved recipes, portions, presentation standards and production instructions. Work assigned stations during morning, afternoon or evening service. Support complimentary breakfast production and service when assigned. Prepare food for Verta Bar & Grill and other hotel restaurant or bar operations. Assist with food production for meetings, groups, banquets, events and special functions. Complete daily preparation, including washing, cutting, portioning, seasoning and organizing ingredients. Set up assigned workstations with the ingredients, utensils, equipment and supplies needed for service. Cook food accurately and efficiently using grills, ovens, stovetops, fryers and other commercial kitchen equipment. Monitor food quality, taste, temperature, freshness and presentation before items are served. Follow food-handler requirements and proper food-safety, sanitation, storage, labeling and rotation procedures. Maintain required hot
  • and cold-holding temperatures.
Follow first-in, first-out inventory practices and help minimize unnecessary food waste. Keep cooking stations, preparation areas, equipment and utensils clean and organized throughout the shift. Complete opening, shift-change and closing duties as assigned. Restock ingredients and supplies before and during service. Monitor food and supply levels and communicate shortages or equipment concerns to kitchen leadership. Work cooperatively with servers, bartenders, banquet associates, breakfast attendants and hotel leadership. Respond promptly to food orders while maintaining quality and presentation standards. Accommodate approved guest dietary requests and allergy-related procedures as directed. Report equipment problems, safety hazards and sanitation concerns promptly. Follow hotel safety procedures when handling knives, hot surfaces, chemicals and kitchen equipment. Assist with receiving, storing and organizing food and kitchen supplies when assigned. Assist with dishwashing, general kitchen cleaning or other food and beverage duties when operationally necessary. Perform other reasonably related duties needed to support hotel food and beverage operations. Qualifications The ideal candidate takes pride in food quality, works efficiently and can adapt to different stations, meal periods and business levels. Dependability, cleanliness, teamwork and schedule flexibility are essential. Required Must be at least 18 years of age. Basic knowledge of cooking methods, food preparation and commercial kitchen practices. Ability to follow recipes, portion standards and production instructions. Knowledge of basic food-safety, sanitation and safe food-handling practices. Ability to work efficiently while managing multiple orders or preparation tasks. Strong attention to food quality, freshness and presentation. Ability to communicate and work effectively with kitchen and service-team members. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift. Ability to bend, reach, lift, carry, push and pull supplies and equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to work around heat, steam, commercial cooking equipment and changing kitchen temperatures. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Availability to work morning, afternoon or evening shifts based on business needs. Availability to work weekends and holidays. Preferred Previous hotel line-cook, restaurant line-cook, banquet-cook, breakfast-cook or prep-cook experience. At least one year of professional cooking or commercial kitchen experience. Experience supporting multiple meal periods or kitchen stations. Experience preparing food for restaurant, bar, banquet, meeting or event service. Previous Marriott, Delta Hotels by Marriott or other branded-hotel experience. Current food-handler certification or ability to obtain required certification promptly after hire. Strong knife, preparation, grilling, sautéing and plating skills. Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills.
