Kitchen Lead & Cook Full-Time | On-Site | Montgomery, TX About Ambria At Ambria Assisted Living, we believe every senior deserves to be known by name, not room number. The Role Food is one of the most powerful ways we show residents they are seen and cared for. As our Kitchen Team Lead & Cook, you own everything that happens in our kitchen — from the weekly grocery order to the last snack of the evening. You will prepare three meals a day plus snacks, keep our kitchen spotless and organized, set a welcoming table for each meal, and make sure our residents stay well-nourished and well-hydrated every single day. This is not a short-order role. It is a meaningful one. Who We Are Looking For The right person for this role takes pride in their kitchen. They are organized, consistent, and genuinely love feeding people well. They do not need to be reminded to wipe down the counters or rotate the pantry stock — they just do it because it matters. They understand that for many of our residents, mealtime is the highlight of the day, and they take that seriously.
You are someone who:
Takes ownership without being asked — the kitchen runs because you run it Plans ahead and thinks in systems, not just individual meals Cares about the people you are cooking for, not just the food itself Keeps a clean, organized kitchen as a personal standard, not a chore Communicates clearly when supplies are low, schedules need adjusting, or something is not right Understands that consistency matters deeply to seniors — familiar food, served with care, on a reliable schedule Responsibilities & Expectations Meal Preparation & Service Prepare and serve three meals per day plus snacks for up to 32 residents across both our assisted living and memory care homes Plan and prep meals with attention to resident dietary needs, preferences, and textures Monitor and actively encourage resident hydration throughout each shift Set the dining table before each meal and clear and clean after Assist with batch-cooking and advance prep throughout the week Kitchen Operations & Ordering Manage the weekly food and supply order, tracking inventory and staying within budget Receive deliveries, verify orders, and put away all groceries and supplies Maintain an organized pantry, refrigerator, and freezer with proper labeling and rotation Perform daily and weekly kitchen cleaning tasks, including equipment, surfaces, and floors Ensure the kitchen meets all health and safety standards at all times How We Measure Success Meals are prepared and served on time, every shift Resident satisfaction with food quality and variety remains consistently high Kitchen passes all internal health and safety checks Weekly food orders are submitted on time and inventory is maintained without gaps Pantry, refrigerator, and freezer are organized, labeled, and rotated correctly at all times
Experience & Skills Required:
Prior experience cooking in a residential, healthcare, or senior care setting preferred Ability to plan menus and manage grocery ordering within a budget Food handler's certification (or willingness to obtain before start date) Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 lbs, and move throughout a kitchen environment Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently Availability to work weekends is required; schedule will include weekend shifts on a regular basis A strong plus: Experience cooking for seniors, including modified texture and therapeutic diets Familiarity with Texas food safety regulations A genuine warmth for older adults and appreciation for the role food plays in their daily lives What Ambria Offers Competitive hourly compensation A small, close-knit team where your work is seen and appreciated A kitchen that is yours to run — with real ownership and autonomy Ground-floor opportunity in a community that is growing with intention A culture where residents are treated like family — and so are team members Ambria Assisted Living is an equal opportunity employer. Pay:
$15.00 - $19.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
