Part-Time / Non-Exempt Position Summary The Cook is responsible for the preparation and production of all food served to residents and guests. This includes maintaining food quality and consistency, assisting with menu execution, and ensuring proper food safety and sanitation. The Cook follows designated recipes and community standards, delivering a positive dining experience in compliance with all regulations and company policies. Essential Functions Prepare and cook meals based on approved menus, recipes, and dietary restrictions. Ensure meals are timely, properly portioned, and attractively presented. Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, including FIFO food rotation. Complete and maintain temperature logs and other kitchen documentation. Monitor kitchen inventory and assist with receiving and stocking deliveries. Clean and organize food prep areas, storage, dish room, and cooking stations. Report inventory or equipment concerns to supervisor promptly. Maintain personal hygiene and appearance per company standards. Assist with team training and kitchen organization as directed by the Chef Manager / F&B Director Follow all food handling, fire safety, and emergency procedures. Minimum Eligibility Requirements Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. High school diploma or GED preferred. Prior experience in senior living, healthcare, or food service preferred. Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Positive attitude toward the elderly and willingness to take responsibility. Must practice and promote community guidelines, mission, and values. I must pass the background check and meet health requirements. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for 80% of shift. Ability to move quickly and safely in emergency situations. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Ability to push/pull carts, tables, chairs, and equipment. Frequent walking, bending, grasping, and reaching. Must be able to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures. I must remain calm under stress and communicate effectively. Customer Service & Resident Rights Provide courteous, professional service to residents, staff, and visitors. Respond promptly to dining-related requests or concerns. Ensure all residents' rights, dignity, and preferences are respected. Training Attend all training sessions required and maintain current certifications (e.g., SERV Safe) Follow safety protocols and company guidelines. Working Conditions Frequent interruptions in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Regular exposure to hot surfaces, kitchen tools, and cleaning agents. May be exposed to emotionally upset residents or families. Subject to potential exposure to odors, airborne particles, and infectious waste.
Physical/Sensory Requirements Medium work:
exerting 20-30 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, and up to 10 lbs. constantly. Must tolerate temperature changes and warm kitchen environments. Continuous standing, walking, bending, and lifting required.
