JOB SUMMARY
The Hotel Restaurant Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality meals in accordance with the hotel's menu standards and ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. This role involves working closely with other kitchen staff to deliver exceptional food to hotel guests, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, and assisting in inventory management. The Cook must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and consistency in food preparation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to the hotel's menu and standards.
  • Ensure that all food is prepared and cooked in a timely manner, maintaining high quality and presentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients and tools and maintaining an organized, clean kitchen workspace.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure all food preparation and cooking areas are kept clean and safe.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and support during busy meal periods.
  • Monitor the freshness of ingredients and assist with ordering supplies to maintain inventory levels.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is properly maintained and report any malfunctions to the F&B manager.
  • Assist in training new kitchen staff on proper food preparation and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a positive working environment by contributing to team efforts and supporting colleagues.
  • Respond to special dietary requests or guest preferences when needed.
  • Assist in menu development and suggest new dishes or improvements based on guest feedback.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by upper management.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Culinary Arts degree or relevant training preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a hotel or restaurant setting.
  • Knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency in food preparation and presentation.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, as required by the hotel's operation.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Experience with a wide range of cuisines and cooking styles.
  • Familiarity with food allergies and special dietary restrictions.
  • Experience working in a hotel kitchen or high-volume food service environment.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and basic kitchen math.
  • Certification in food safety and handling (e.
