Cover Letter Resume This position is for approximately 30 hours per week. Benefits are provided with this position. Position Overview The Cook supports school nutrition services by preparing meals that meet mandated nutritional requirements, maintaining sanitary food preparation environments, and ensuring efficient food service operations for students and staff. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook food items from recipes or prepared ingredients to meet nutritional standards. Estimate food quantities and adjust recipes to meet meal production needs. Inspect food items to verify quality and compliance with health standards. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas. Monitor kitchen operations to ensure safe and sanitary food service practices. Maintain inventory of food, supplies, and condiments required for meal preparation. Prepare special dietary meals and allergy-safe food items as required. Evaluate food quality and presentation before service. Assist with serving food items to students and staff. Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs. Participate in training sessions and meetings related to food service operations. Assist with other food service duties when necessary to ensure adequate staffing. Perform other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements - Minimum Qualifications Skills Operating commercial kitchen equipment Preparing food according to recipes and nutritional standards Maintaining sanitation and food safety practices Knowledge Food safety and sanitation procedures Food preparation techniques and kitchen operations Nutritional service standards and regulations Abilities Communicate effectively with staff and students Work collaboratively as part of a kitchen team Maintain cleanliness and organization in food preparation areas Adapt to changing meal production needs Responsibility Works under limited supervision following standardized food service procedures while preparing meals and maintaining kitchen operations. Work Environment Work is performed in a commercial kitchen environment and may involve lifting, standing, and exposure to heat and food preparation equipment. Experience Job-related experience is desired. Education High school diploma or equivalent. Required Testing None specified. Certificates and Licenses Food Handler's or ServSafe Certification. Continuing Education / Training District-required annual training. Clearances Mandated reporter training Criminal background check Reporting Relationship Reports to the assigned supervisor.
