Position Summary The Child Care Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines. This role supports children's well-being by ensuring high-quality food preparation, maintaining a clean, safe kitchen, and collaborating with center staff to meet daily meal-service needs. Key Responsibilities Menu Planning & Food Preparation Develop weekly menus that comply with all CACFP nutritional and portion requirements. Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks for all classrooms. Ensure meals are served on time and at proper food-safe temperatures. Prepare appropriate quantities of food for each classroom based on meal counts and CACFP guidelines. Coordination & Documentation Collaborate with staff to obtain accurate meal counts prior to food preparation. Maintain daily production reports and other required documentation. Create weekly food and supply lists as needed. Submit all kitchen-related expense receipts to the Center Director in a timely manner. Kitchen Maintenance & Food Safety Keep the kitchen and all food storage areas clean, organized, and sanitary. Check all food items for expiration dates and proper labeling. Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and food-contact surfaces throughout the day. Clean kitchen equipment and appliances regularly. Remove trash and recyclables daily. Properly store and organize groceries, food orders, and non-food items. Professional Conduct Maintain strict confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff. Communicate respectfully and positively with families, children, team members, and administrators. Contribute to a collaborative, supportive, and safe environment for all.
