Job Description

The Meadows is looking for someone who has a passion for cooking. Experience is not necessary but a plus. Must be comfortable cooking in large quantities for up to 60+ people. We are currently looking to hire someone Part-time with a mixture of shared cooking and aide responsibilities which include every other weekend. We are looking to find someone who will embrace the importance of home-cooked meals and bring energy to their work environment. Must be motivated and able to work unsupervised. Summary:
Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in regards to the preparation of foods on a large scale, commercial-type basis. Work is performed according to specific policies and procedures, producing food according to menus and standardized recipes. Responsibilities include preparing ingredients, cleaning the cooking area and serving food. Work is under the supervision of the Dietary Manager and the Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Prepares grocery list according to menus. Prepares appropriate foods, hot or cold, in a timely fashion for meal services. Is responsible for cleaning tables and equipment; maintaining work areas in a sanitary condition daily. Operates various kitchen equipment as assigned, reports malfunctioning equipment. Reports unsafe conditions in the kitchen and suggests possible solutions to hazards. Weighs and measures ingredients, properly using recipes in order to produce a standard product. Interviews residents and staff for meal acceptance and attends residents and staffing meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required. Some knowledge of food preparation and cooking methods on a large-scale basis. Some knowledge of the materials and equipment used in large-scale cooking operations. Some knowledge of health and safety standards utilized in a food service operation and in facility. Ability to read and write simple correspondence. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, working independently while performing major repairs and overhauls. Ability to communicate information to customers, clients, and other employees of The Meadows Facility. Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations. Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to follow security and safety regulations.

EDUCATION AND/OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to pass a criminal history background check. Must have valid driver's license and automobile.
PHYSIOLOGICAL FACTORS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; Reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Performs repetitive motions including bending, twisting, stooping, pushing and pulling. Employees must have the ability to smell and taste food for evaluation. Ability to stand for an extended period of time without a significant rest period. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employees in this position must be able to regularly lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
