Job Description
Position Summary We are seeking a dependable and organized Part-Time Cook to prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children in our childcare program. This position plays an important role in supporting the health and well-being of the children we serve. The Cook will have access to the YMCA kitchen and will be responsible for menu planning, cleaning, meal preparation, inventory management, and food ordering. Responsibilities Prepare and serve healthy meals and snacks for children according to licensing and nutrition guidelines. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment. Plan menus that meet program requirements and accommodate dietary restrictions when needed. Order food, kitchen supplies, and other necessary inventory within approved budgets. Monitor inventory levels and maintain accurate records of food and supply usage. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations. Properly store food and ensure safe handling practices. Coordinate with childcare staff regarding meal schedules and special dietary needs. Assist with kitchen inspections and compliance requirements. Qualifications Previous cooking or food service experience preferred. Experience preparing meals for groups or children is a plus. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to manage inventory and place food orders independently. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and reliably. Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain one) preferred. Benefits Flexible part-time schedule.
