The Hotel Restaurant & Banquet Cook is responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality food for the hotel restaurant, banquet events, meetings, and other food service functions. This position works closely with the kitchen team to ensure food is prepared safely, efficiently, consistently, and according to hotel standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, team-oriented, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining a high standard of food quality and sanitation. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Prepare and cook food items for the hotel restaurant, banquet events, meetings, room service, and other hotel functions. Follow standardized recipes, portion controls, presentation guidelines, and food quality standards. Assist with preparation and execution of buffets, plated meals, receptions, and other banquet functions. Prepare ingredients through chopping, slicing, portioning, marinating, measuring, and other required preparation. Ensure food is cooked to the appropriate temperature and presented according to hotel standards. Work efficiently during high-volume meal periods and banquet events. Coordinate with the Chef, Kitchen Manager, Banquet Team, and other kitchen staff to ensure timely food production and service. Assist with setting up and breaking down banquet food service areas as needed. Maintain proper food storage, labeling, dating, and rotation using established food safety procedures. Monitor food quality, freshness, and inventory levels and communicate shortages or concerns to management. Minimize food waste through proper preparation, portioning, storage, and utilization of ingredients. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation areas throughout the shift. Properly clean and sanitize cooking equipment, utensils, work surfaces, and kitchen areas. Follow all health department regulations, food safety standards, and hotel policies. Properly handle and store food to prevent cross-contamination and foodborne illness. Assist with receiving, inspecting, and properly storing food and kitchen deliveries when needed. Operate kitchen equipment safely and properly, including ovens, grills, fryers, slicers, mixers, and other food preparation equipment. Communicate effectively with servers and banquet staff regarding food orders, timing, special requests, and menu changes. Assist with special dietary requests and food allergies while following appropriate safety procedures. Maintain a professional, cooperative, and respectful working relationship with all hotel departments. Perform opening, closing, cleaning, and stocking duties as assigned. Assist with other kitchen and food service responsibilities as directed by management. Qualifications Previous restaurant, hotel, banquet, or commercial kitchen experience preferred. Culinary education or equivalent experience is a plus. Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food preparation procedures. Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately. Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team. Reliable, punctual, and dependable. Strong communication skills and a positive attitude. Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Food Handler certification or other applicable food safety certification preferred or required according to local regulations. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and work for extended periods. Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, and move throughout the kitchen. Ability to lift and carry food supplies, kitchen equipment, and other items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. Ability to work in a hot, humid, and fast-paced kitchen environment. Ability to safely use knives, cooking equipment, and other kitchen tools. Ability to maintain a high level of productivity throughout the shift.
