Schedule:
28-40 hours per week depending on appointment volume Part-time to start with opportunity to grow into full-time 1. About the Position Summit Detail is a growing mobile auto detailing company serving the Grand Rapids area, and we're looking for a reliable, detail-oriented person to join our team as a Mobile Detailing Technician . This is an opportunity to get in early with a growing small business and develop into a skilled independent detailer and eventually a Lead Detailing Technician . Previous professional detailing experience is not required. We are willing to fully train the right person. Experience in auto body, automotive repair, detailing, or another hands-on automotive environment is preferred, but not required. We're more interested in finding someone who is dependable, takes pride in their work, pays close attention to detail, and is willing to learn. 2. Pay & Advancement We have a clear advancement path based on your training, ability, quality of work, and independence. Training Technician $18.00/hour Paid hands-on training Work directly alongside the owner while learning our detailing processes and quality standards Detailing Assistant / Helper $19.00/hour 50% of applicable customer tips Work alongside the owner while becoming proficient with complete interior and exterior details Independent Detailing Technician $20.00/hour 100% of applicable customer tips Complete qualifying detailing appointments independently Begin handling customer interactions, vehicle inspections, keys, and job responsibilities independently Lead Detailing Technician $22.50/hour 100% of applicable customer tips Increased responsibility and independence Opportunity to take a larger role as Summit Detail continues to grow Additional performance bonuses and weekend incentives may also be available. 3. What You'll Be Doing You will be trained to perform professional mobile detailing services including: Interior detailing Detailed vacuuming Carpet and upholstery shampooing Hot-water extraction Steam cleaning Exterior hand washing Clay bar and paint decontamination Cleaning wheels, tires, trim, glass, and other exterior surfaces Driving a company detailing van to customer locations Communicating professionally with customers Collecting and returning customer keys Performing vehicle inspections Maintaining Summit Detail's quality standards This position does not currently include machine polishing or ceramic coating installation. All professional detailing equipment, chemicals, and supplies are provided. 4. What We're Looking For The right person for this position is someone who: Is extremely detail-oriented Is reliable and punctual Works hard and stays productive Takes pride in producing high-quality work Can eventually work independently without constant supervision Communicates professionally with customers Is honest and trustworthy Is comfortable working around expensive vehicles and customers' personal belongings Is willing to learn and follow established detailing procedures Wants an opportunity to grow as the company grows We're looking for someone who wants to become genuinely good at detailing, not someone who simply wants to rush through vehicles. 5. Requirements Must be at least 18 years old Valid driver's license Clean driving record Comfortable driving a company Ford Transit Connect Able to reliably report to our dispatch location in the 49506 area Able to stand, bend, kneel, and move for extended periods Able to perform repetitive cleaning and detailing tasks Able to lift approximately 40-50 lbs when needed Comfortable working outdoors in both hot and cold weather Dependable attendance and punctuality Professional appearance and attitude A poor driving record, repeated lateness, or inability to comfortably work outdoors will prevent someone from being a good fit for this position. 6. Schedule This is an appointment-based position , so daily hours may vary depending on our detailing schedule. Part-time to start Approximately 28-40 hours per week depending on appointment volume Minimum availability of approximately 5 days per week preferred Many appointments begin in the morning Weekends are not required Additional incentives may be available for voluntarily taking weekend work The position is currently seasonal because Summit Detail operates primarily as a mobile business. There is a strong possibility of year-round employment in the future as the company grows and potentially expands into a dedicated shop. 7. About Summit Detail Summit Detail is a growing mobile detailing company serving Grand Rapids and the surrounding area. We focus on professional-quality work, strong customer service, and providing a higher standard of vehicle care than a typical high-volume detailing operation. Because we're a growing small business, this position has the potential to become much more than an entry-level detailing job. We're looking for someone who can grow with the company and take on greater responsibility as they develop their skills.
