In this important role, you will help keep our kitchen clean, organized, and running efficiently while assisting with basic food preparation. The ideal candidate is dependable, hardworking, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Duties & ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation Wash, peel, chop, slice, and portion fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients as directed. Assist with basic food preparation according to recipes and kitchen standards. Prepare ingredients for daily lunch, dinner, catering, and special events. Properly label, date, store, and rotate prepared food and ingredients. Assist cooks with simple preparation and assembly tasks as needed. Maintain clean and organized prep areas throughout the shift. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling procedures. Dishwashing & Kitchen Cleaning Wash, rinse, sanitize, and properly store dishes, glasses, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment. Operate the commercial dishwasher and follow proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures. Keep dishwashing and kitchen areas clean, organized, and free of clutter. Clean and sanitize countertops, prep tables, sinks, floors, and other kitchen surfaces. Empty trash and recycling and replace liners as needed. Assist with cleaning kitchen equipment and maintaining overall kitchen cleanliness. Sweep and mop kitchen and dishwashing areas as required. Ensure clean dishes, utensils, and cookware are continuously available to the kitchen team. General Kitchen Support Assist cooks and kitchen staff with additional tasks during busy service periods. Help with opening and closing kitchen duties. Follow instructions from the Chef, Sous Chef, and Kitchen Manager. Work efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety. Support catering events and special functions when needed. Follow all restaurant policies, health department requirements, and workplace safety procedures. Qualifications & Skills Previous restaurant, kitchen, food service, dishwasher, or food-preparation experience preferred but not required. Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Reliable, punctual, and dependable. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks. Ability to lift and carry kitchen supplies, dishes, and equipment as needed. Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation preferred. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Positive attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed. Attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, lift, and carry supplies and kitchen equipment. Ability to work around heat, water, cleaning chemicals, and commercial kitchen equipment. Ability to lift approximately 30-50 lbs. as required.
