Cook / Dishwasher - Part-Time The Observatory Lounge | Houghton, MI Part-Time About The Observatory Lounge Located on the 7th floor of the Hampton Inn & Suites in downtown Houghton, The Observatory Lounge offers breathtaking year-round views of the Keweenaw Peninsula and Portage Waterway in a welcoming, elevated dining atmosphere. Our kitchen focuses on fresh, thoughtfully prepared food and seasonal menus, with a scratch-kitchen approach that includes preparing our, sauces, stocks, pastas, meats, and produce in-house. Paired with handcrafted cocktails, local beer and wine, and one of the most unique views in the area. We're looking for a dependable Part-Time Cook/Dishwasher who takes pride in their work and wants to be part of a team focused on quality food, a clean and organized kitchen, and a great guest experience. What You'll Do Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards Assist with food preparation, including portioning and basic prep work Wash dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment Maintain clean and organized dishwashing and kitchen areas Clean and sanitize food preparation surfaces, equipment, and work areas Properly store food and supplies Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures Assist with receiving and putting away deliveries as needed Remove trash and maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen Work closely with cooks, bartenders, servers, and other team members Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties Perform other kitchen duties as assigned Qualifications Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate ServSafe certification is a plus Dependable and able to arrive on time for scheduled shifts Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong attention to cleanliness and food safety Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks Ability to safely lift and carry kitchen supplies and equipment Willingness to assist with both cooking and dishwashing responsibilities Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed Why Join Our Team?
