Dishwasher / Dish Room Attendant Position Summary The Dishwasher / Dish Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary dish room environment. This position ensures that dishes, cookware, utensils, and equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized while supporting overall kitchen operations and complying with health and safety standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Dishwashing Operations Operate and monitor the commercial dishwasher throughout the day. Check dishwasher water levels and conditions before use to ensure safe operation. Load and unload dishes, trays, utensils, cookware, and large bowls properly. Work with another employee when handling large bowls or other oversized items that require two-person lifting. Maintain an efficient workflow to ensure clean dishes are available when needed. Cleaning and Sanitation Scrape food waste from dishes and trays before washing. Keep food debris off the floor and maintain a clean work area throughout the shift. Clean and sanitize sinks, drain boards, dishwashing equipment, carts, and surrounding work areas. Follow approved sanitizing procedures and chemical usage guidelines. Rinse and hang damp towels at the end of each shift. Empty trash and dispose of waste properly. End-of-Day Responsibilities Thoroughly clean the dishwasher, including doors, tracks, trays, and interior components. Drain the dishwasher and clean all removable trays and racks. Spray and clean the inside of the machine and underneath equipment components. Wipe down equipment using hot, soapy water. Empty wash and sanitizer buckets. Turn off all dish room equipment at the end of the day. Clean the dish room door, dishwasher cart, and surrounding areas. Empty water containers and hose buckets. Sweep floors daily. Mop floors according to the facility cleaning schedule. Safety and Compliance Follow all workplace safety, sanitation, and food-service regulations. Use sanitizing solutions according to established guidelines. Report equipment problems, safety concerns, or maintenance issues to management. Maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times. Qualifications Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks. Ability to lift and carry kitchen equipment safely. Strong attention to cleanliness, sanitation, and safety. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Previous dishwashing or kitchen experience is preferred but not required. Performs other duties as assigned and assists in other areas as needed to support efficient facility operations.
Pay:
$10.00 - $14.00 per hour
