Job Description

Role type: Contract to Hire About Us We're a stealth-stage startup building an agentic ecosystem of products for the entertainment industry. We're a small team of music lovers with experience across Warner Music, UMG, NASA, Apple, and Intel. Our partners include senior figures from leading record labels. The Role We're looking for a Data Analytics Expert who can turn fragmented entertainment, audience, streaming, social, and campaign data into clear insights and actionable recommendations. You'll work directly with product leaders, operators, and industry partners to define the right questions, identify the necessary data, conduct the analysis, and communicate what the findings mean for artists, labels, marketers, and our product roadmap. This is not a reporting-only position. You'll help establish how our products measure artist momentum, audience behavior, campaign performance, market opportunities, and operational outcomes. You should be comfortable moving between exploratory analysis, repeatable reporting, product analytics, and partner-facing recommendations. What You'll Do Analyze music-industry, streaming, social, audience, campaign, and commercial data to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and performance drivers. Translate open-ended business questions into measurable hypotheses, analytical plans, and decision-ready outputs. Develop artist, audience, content, campaign, and market-performance frameworks using data from multiple platforms. Define meaningful KPIs for artists, labels, A&R teams, marketers, executives, and internal product teams. Build dashboards, recurring reports, scorecards, and analytical tools that non-technical stakeholders can use confidently. Combine structured and unstructured data from APIs, exports, spreadsheets, databases, reports, and third-party platforms. Work with engineering teams to define data requirements, source mappings, transformation logic, and quality checks. Evaluate data completeness, reliability, bias, and limitations before findings are incorporated into products or partner recommendations. Design measurement loops that connect recommendations and campaign decisions to actual outcomes. Support audience segmentation, attribution analysis, benchmarking, forecasting, and performance evaluation. Help convert successful analyses into repeatable workflows that can eventually be used by AI agents and product features. Present findings clearly to internal leaders and external partners, including the assumptions and limitations behind the analysis. Contribute analytical evidence to product requirements, feature prioritization, and investor-readiness planning. Requirements 5+ years of professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence, product analytics, marketing analytics, or a related discipline. Advanced SQL skills and practical Python experience for data analysis, automation, and validation. Strong experience working with incomplete, inconsistent, or fragmented datasets. Experience developing dashboards and reporting systems using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or comparable platforms. Strong knowledge of descriptive and diagnostic analytics, KPI design, segmentation, cohort analysis, trend analysis, and performance measurement. Ability to translate business problems into clear analytical questions and measurable outcomes. Experience combining data from APIs, databases, spreadsheets, and third-party platforms. Strong data-visualization and analytical storytelling skills. Ability to explain complex findings to executives and non-technical operators without overstating what the data proves. Strong written communication and documentation skills. Comfort working in an early-stage environment with ambiguity, evolving requirements, and short iteration cycles. Full-time availability aligned with Pacific Time. Nice to Have Based in Los Angeles and interested in regular in-person collaboration. Direct experience in music, entertainment, media, creator platforms, or audience intelligence. Familiarity with streaming, social-media, ticketing, touring, publishing, distribution, or music-marketing datasets. Understanding of music-industry data standards and organizations, including DDEX and MLC. Experience with artist development, A&R analytics, audience growth, catalog analysis, or campaign measurement. Marketing-analytics experience involving attribution, paid media, creative performance, conversion funnels, or audience segmentation. Product-analytics experience, including event tracking, adoption metrics, retention, and experimentation. Familiarity with modern data warehouses and transformation tools. Experience using LLMs or AI agents to classify, summarize, enrich, or analyze data while maintaining appropriate validation controls. Familiarity with statistical modeling, forecasting, anomaly detection, or machine-learning evaluation. Genuine interest in music, art, and the people who create them. What Success Looks Like Within your first several months, you will have: Established a practical KPI framework for priority users and product workflows. Converted fragmented partner data into reliable, decision-ready analysis. Delivered dashboards and analytical outputs that operators actively use. Identified gaps in our current data sources and recommended how to close them. Helped define how insights generated by our products are measured against real-world outcomes. Turned recurring analytical work into documented, repeatable workflows.
