Outdoor Pursuits Associate Hourly - $18.00 / hour (up to 30 hours with potential to go to full time) This position is responsible for assisting members with the safe and enjoyable use of the organization's outdoor recreation equipment, including stand up paddle boards, kayaks, and mountain bikes. This position plays an important role in providing excellent member service, maintaining equipment cleanliness and readiness, supporting daily setup and closing procedures, and helping ensure members receive appropriate safety equipment before participating in outdoor activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Greet and assist members in a friendly, professional, and service-focused manner. Help members check out and return stand up paddle boards, kayaks, mountain bikes, and related equipment. Retrieve equipment from storage each morning and transport it safely to the dock or designated activity area. Return equipment to the appropriate storage area at the end of each day. Clean, rinse, organize, and inspect paddle boards, kayaks, bikes, paddles, helmets, life jackets, and other related equipment. Issue appropriate safety equipment, including helmets, personal flotation devices, and other required gear. Provide basic safety reminders and usage guidelines to members before equipment use. Monitor equipment condition and report damage, safety concerns, or maintenance needs to management. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including docks, storage areas, and equipment staging areas. Assist with inventory tracking and proper storage of outdoor recreation equipment and supplies. Follow all organizational safety procedures, emergency protocols, and member service standards. Support other recreation, dock, or member service operations as needed. Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
Qualifications Prior experience in recreation, hospitality, customer service, outdoor activities, or athletics preferred. Familiarity with paddle boards, kayaks, mountain bikes, or similar outdoor recreation equipment preferred. Ability to provide courteous and professional service to members and guests. Ability to follow safety procedures and communicate basic instructions clearly. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining clean, safe equipment. Dependable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. CPR, First Aid, or water safety certification preferred, or willingness to obtain if required. Must have the ability to swim. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks associated with outdoor recreation operations. Duties may include standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and moving equipment such as paddle boards, kayaks, bikes, paddles, helmets, and life jackets. The employee must be able to safely transport equipment between storage areas, docks, and activity areas, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work Environment The Outdoor Pursuits Associate works primarily outdoors and may be exposed to sun, heat, humidity, rain, wind, water, and uneven surfaces. Work may take place near docks, waterfront areas, storage facilities, trails, and other recreation spaces. Weekend, holiday, and evening availability may be required based on operational needs.
