Come join an expanding YMCA Association. The YMCA of the Wabash Valley is located in West Central Indiana with the Vigo County YMCA located in Terre Haute being one of the three facility branches. The Vigo County YMCA Aquatics Director position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Y offers recreational and instructional programs for people ranging in age from toddlers to seniors. Under the direction of the Branch Director, the Aquatics Director will administer, supervise, lead, and develop the aquatics staff and programs for the Vigo County

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Plan, organize, and staff the aquatics area for recreational and instructional programming. Hire, supervise, schedule, and guide all aquatic staff in the duties. Work with Terre Haute Parks & Recreation department to ensure the aquatics facility and equipment are in good condition and proper working order. Report any problems or issues immediately to the appropriate personnel. Plan and develop an annual budget for the department. Administer the annual budget as approved. Understand and implement proper safety procedures for opening and closing of the aquatic facility, including emergency situations. Collaborate with community organizations and service agencies to provide YMCA aquatic programs for all populations. Support all branch and association-wide membership retention and engagement initiatives including annual campaign efforts. Serve as a member of the branch leadership staff team. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Recreation or Health and Physical Education or related field is preferred or relevant aquatic related experience. Must have previous experience in aquatics, preferably two or more years at the YMCA. Must have YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguard or equivalent certification or have willingness to obtain within the first 60 days of employment. Must have CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications or have willingness to obtain within the first 60 days of employment. YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification preferred or have willingness to obtain within the first 60 days of employment. Budget development and administration skills preferred. Planning and program development skills preferred. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Basic knowledge of computers and social media technology.
