Job Description
Job Overview:
We are looking for a Member Services and Programming Manager to work at an university's fitness facility located in Boston, MA. Lead daily operations of the Member Services and Programming teams (Squash/Tennis lessons and clinics, Lifting classes, Pilates workshops, nutrition workshops), including scheduling, supervision, training, onboarding, and workflow coordination. Develop and maintain effective communication systems to ensure information is shared efficiently among Member Services and Programming staff. Coordinate staff responsibilities and resources to ensure successful execution of fitness and group fitness programs, recreational activities, and team-building initiatives. Ensure all member services and programming meet operational standards, align with client and Workplace Well-being culture, and deliver a high-quality participant experience. Provide cross-functional training and orientations for new hires across member and programming teams. Assist the General Manager with marketing and communications, including schedules, promotions, signage, digital content, and member engagement initiatives. Manage and maintain the membership and check-in management system, ensuring accurate records and consistent operational procedures. Support overall facility operations to ensure a safe, professional, welcoming, and member-ready environment. Foster a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and exceptional customer service aligned with Workplace Well-being and client expectations. Maintain a visible leadership presence through active engagement with members and staff on the fitness floor and at the service desk. Provide regular updates to the General Manager regarding staffing, budget performance, operational priorities, and program effectiveness, and participate in management and team meetings. Maintain facility security and access control by ensuring only authorized individuals enter and utilize the fitness center during operating hours.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree Minimum three years of experience in a fitness center that has close interactions with members and guests. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification. Must be knowledgeable about the industry with the customer skills to network, engage, and interact with all clients, guests, and participants. Ability to effectively engage participants as a public speaker. Competent with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).

The annual salary for this position ranges from $66,300 - $72,800. Plus One, an Optum Company, adheres to all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws as applicable.
