Fathers' UpLift About the Opportunity At Fathers' UpLift, we believe fathers are not simply participants in our work—they are teachers, leaders, mentors, and essential members of the villages we are building around fathers and families. We are seeking two Fatherhood Professors who can bring both their lived experience as fathers and their ability to engage other men into our Community Fellowship Program. One Fatherhood Professor will facilitate programming behind the wall, working with incarcerated fathers as they strengthen their emotional wellness, relationships, and preparation for family and community connection. The second Fatherhood Professor will facilitate programming within the community, helping fathers build supportive relationships, develop new skills, access resources, and experience a genuine sense of belonging. This opportunity is especially designed to create space for fathers themselves to help lead the work of fatherhood. We welcome working dads interested in giving back, as well as fathers seeking meaningful paid work to supplement their primary income. Opportunities may be available as either paid or volunteer positions depending on the assignment, qualifications, and program needs. What Makes a Fatherhood Professor? You do not have to know everything about fatherhood. You do need to believe in fathers. Our Fatherhood Professors understand that some of the most powerful learning happens when fathers can sit together, speak honestly, learn from one another, and know that the person helping guide the conversation understands something about the journey of being a dad. We are looking for fathers who can help us create that kind of village. Primary Responsibilities As a Fatherhood Professor, you will: Welcome and engage fathers. Contact assigned Community Fellows, introduce yourself, welcome them into the program, and begin building a supportive relationship before the course starts. Create a sense of belonging. Help establish an environment where fathers feel respected, valued, heard, and connected to other dads. Teach and facilitate the curriculum. Deliver Fathers' UpLift course content and structure with integrity using our Participatory Group Facilitator Model, creating space for fathers to learn from the curriculum and from one another. Help fathers succeed. Make sure participants understand course expectations, including attendance, activities and surveys, graduation requirements, and any applicable stipend requirements. Connect fathers to support. Ensure participants know about available resources that can help remove barriers to participation, including meals when applicable, transportation assistance, childcare assistance, and emergency participation support. Stay connected between sessions. Remain appropriately available for course-related questions, encouragement, and resource sharing. Identify barriers early. Pay attention when a father begins missing sessions, disengaging, or experiencing challenges and communicate those concerns to the Program Coordinator so the team can respond with support rather than judgment. Communicate with the program team. Keep the Program Coordinator informed about successful participant contact, follow-up needs, attendance, engagement, barriers, and other matters affecting successful participation. Contribute to the village. Participate in the broader Community Fellowship Program and help Fathers' UpLift continue building a community in which fathers support, encourage, and learn from one another. Who We Are Looking For First and foremost, you must be a dad or father figure. We are especially interested in fathers who: Believe deeply in the potential of other fathers. Can relate to men from different backgrounds and life experiences. Are comfortable facilitating conversations rather than simply lecturing. Listen well and know how to make room for others. Can balance compassion with accountability. Are dependable and consistent. Are willing to learn and deliver the Fathers' UpLift curriculum and facilitation model. Understand that fathers may be navigating trauma, incarceration/reentry, family separation, financial challenges, behavioral health concerns, or other barriers. Can maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality. Want to become part of a larger community committed to strengthening fathers and families. Lived experience matters. Experience overcoming challenges, navigating fatherhood, reconnecting with children, supporting other fathers, or participating in community-based work may be highly valuable in this role. Formal teaching experience is welcomed, but being an educator does not necessarily require having taught in a traditional classroom. Fathers who have mentored, coached, led groups, served their communities, or naturally created spaces where other men feel comfortable learning and talking are encouraged to apply. Two Opportunities Fatherhood Professor — Behind the Wall Facilitate a Fathers' UpLift course with fathers who are currently incarcerated. This professor should be comfortable entering a correctional environment and helping create a respectful, hopeful, and engaging learning community for fathers preparing for stronger relationships with their children, families, and communities. Placement will be subject to any required correctional facility clearance, orientation, background screening, and access requirements. Fatherhood Professor — Community Facilitate a Fathers' UpLift course for fathers participating in our Community Fellowship Program. This professor will help create an ongoing community where fathers can strengthen their wellness, relationships, parenting, and connections to resources while building meaningful relationships with other dads. Paid and Volunteer Pathways We recognize that fathers come to this work for different reasons. Some dads may have established careers and simply want a meaningful way to give back. Others may be looking for purposeful work that can provide additional income alongside their primary employment. We want to create room for both. For that reason, Fathers' UpLift is exploring paid and volunteer pathways for Fatherhood Professors based on program assignments, availability, qualifications, funding, and organizational needs. Why This Role Matters Too often, fathers—especially fathers facing incarceration, family separation, financial hardship, trauma, or other barriers—are approached primarily through the lens of what they need to fix. We want to build something different. We are creating communal villages where fathers can learn, heal, contribute, lead, and belong. The Fatherhood Professor is an important part of that village. You are not being asked to stand above fathers and tell them how to live. You are being invited to stand alongside them, facilitate learning, share wisdom, create accountability, and help build a community where fathers know they do not have to navigate fatherhood alone. If you are a dad who believes your experience can help another father—and you are ready to learn from other fathers in return—we would love to hear from you.
