Class Concept Do you have extensive experience in lifeguarding and aquatic facility management/operation? The City of Dublin is proud to possess a team of highly trained and passionate Pool Managers who are dedicated to the health and safety of pool guests through proactive and diverse team management strategies. The Pool Managers assist the Aquatics Supervisory Team to uphold department objectives of civility, diversity, inclusion and trust. The indoor pools at the Dublin Community Recreation Center operate year round, while the Dublin Community North and South outdoor pools are open during the summer season. Under the direction of the Aquatic Operations Coordinator, the successful candidate is responsible for the daily operation of an assigned City of Dublin aquatic facility. Pool Managers gain dynamic work experience including staff management, scheduling and evaluation, as well as program management and operations that contribute to the safety of the Dublin community. Pool Managers are vital to the success of our facilities and are an important part of a large team effort. All Recreation Services team members have the chance to participate in incentive programs, professional development/team building trainings, growth opportunities and recognition events. Employee recognition and appreciation events throughout the summer Discounted/free employee participation in select City events (Memorial Golf Tournament, Dublin Irish Festival, etc.) Uniforms provided Career mapping and growth opportunities Examples of Duties Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Prevent accidents and injuries within the DCRC and outdoor facilities through public education and rule enforcement Maintain operation of pool facilities in accordance with the Franklin County Health Code Uphold zone coverage required by the Franklin County Health Code as outlined in the zone coverage maps Observe and maintain safe swimming conditions for pool guests Ensure proper maintenance of pump rooms, chemicals and completion of daily cleaning duties Complete and sign off on assigned daily tasks during designated shifts Possess a knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures as outlined in staff manuals Maintain the skills of a professional lifeguard and lifeguard instructor through assistance with in-service training, skill checks, American Red Cross class instruction and certification renewal Accept responsibility for all assignments as communicated by your supervisor Always present a pleasant and professional appearance Identify and fix all problems during your shift, or communicate to the Aquatics Operations Coordinator, prior to leaving Respond to and provide emergency assistance when necessary as described in staff manuals Complete any necessary reports (incident/accident/rescue) Ensure that the Lifeguard Office/pool deck is never left unattended At closing, remain in the facility until all fellow team members have left for the evening At opening, serve as Manager on Duty and assist with opening of the building Conduct a facility walk thru at least once per shift Complete all patron and program counts Complete a Daily Shift Report during every shift worked Appropriately answer any questions and concerns addressed to you by staff members, supervisors and visitors to our facilities Ensure that staff discipline is fair and consistent Ensure that customer service standards are met Typical Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Possession of a valid driver's license Must be regularly available to work 2-3 shifts per week Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor (LGI) certification, OR the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire 6 months of experience in the aquatics/recreation field or a related field, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred Qualifications Two years of practical experience Current certification in American Red Cross Administering Emergency Oxygen Current CPO/AFO certification or any other equivalent combination of experience, skill and training Ability to supervise and train employees Knowledgeable about lifeguard standards Strong leadership and teamwork skills
