Job Description

The purpose of this position is to coordinate the development and implementation of cultural arts and other special events. Job duties consist of varied program coordination duties. Successful performance in this position contributes to the efficient and effective delivery of leisure services to area residents. FLSA status is Non-Exempt.

The following duties are normal for this classification. PROGRAM MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
(30%) I dentifies and develops special events, including parades, concerts, festivals, farmers markets, and other activities. S ets up and breaks down event equipment. W orks with community organizations on special community and quality of life projects and events.
CULTURAL ARTS EVENTS RESPONSIBILITIES
(30%) W orks with and manages groups within the Creative and Performing Arts Council. P lans, prepares, publicizes, executes and follows-up on cultural arts events. A ttends meetings of councils, boards, and committees. C oordinates with external arts organizations.
PERSONNEL & MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
(30%) P repares budget requests and administers approved funds. P repares grant applications and manages grant funds. T rains, assigns, directs, supervises, evaluates, and participates in the hiring and discipline process of department personnel. C oordinates publicity and promotion of arts and special events; develops ad campaigns; appears in live and recorded interviews. R esponds to requests and inquiries from the general public. P repares a variety of regular and special reports, and operational procedures. P repares a variety of correspondence. M aintains files and records.
OTHER RELATED DUTIES
(10%) A ssists other departments. P erforms other duties as needed or assigned. B achelors' Degree in Arts, Communications, Hospitality, or a related field is required. T hree (3) years' experience in public relations, event planning or programming. T hree (3) years' of supervisory experience. E xperience in grant writing preferred. F amiliarity with creative concepts and an appreciation of the arts is preferred.

J ob candidates must be able to adapt to and perform under moderate stress. J ob duties require regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
