The following is an opportunity for flexible, part-time, VOLUNTEER work. Description Job Summary The Director of Events leads the planning and operational execution of SBMH's events, managing logistics, vendors, volunteers, and budgets. This role works closely with leadership and the Director of Partnerships to ensure events meet fundraising and engagement goals while providing safe, organized, and high-quality experiences. Key Responsibilities Event Planning & Execution Develop a comprehensive event calendar and timeline for SBMH initiatives. Plan and manage all logistics for events, including venue selection, vendors, volunteers, catering, and equipment. Create and manage event budgets in collaboration with the Treasurer. Coordinate rehearsals, run-of-show schedules, and onsite management for large events (e.g., Dancing for Heroes ). Volunteer & Staff Coordination Recruit, assign, and supervise volunteers to support events. Serve as the primary point of contact for event-day operations, ensuring smooth communication among staff, volunteers, and vendors. Ensure that all participants understand their roles and responsibilities before and during events. Program & Mission Alignment Ensure each event reflects SBMH's mission, vision, and values. Incorporate programmatic elements that directly support families and children served. Gather post-event feedback to improve future events and initiatives. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with the Director of Partnerships to engage sponsors and donors in event activities. Communicate event expectations and logistics clearly to volunteers, staff, and community partners. Provide reports on event outcomes, attendance, and fundraising impact to the Board and leadership. Compliance & Risk Management Ensure events comply with all venue, legal, and safety regulations. Prepare necessary documentation, permits, or insurance requirements for events. Implement risk management practices to ensure safe environments for participants. Qualifications & Skills Experience in event planning, nonprofit program management, or community engagement. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines under pressure. Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising events and volunteer coordination. Professional demeanor and alignment with SBMH values. Time Commitment Approximately 10-20 hours per month , with additional hours during major events. Attendance and active participation in all major SBMH events are required. Impact The Director of Events ensures that every SBMH event is meaningful, well-organized, and successful—maximizing community engagement, volunteer participation, and fundraising outcomes while delivering exceptional experiences for families and supporters.
