Job Description
Job Summary The Student Assistant in the Office of Student Engagement provides friendly front-desk support, including greeting visitors, answering phones, assisting with office tasks, and overseeing the Student Resource Room. The position also supports the DEN by preparing the space, managing equipment check-outs, and ensuring the area is properly secured at the end of each shift. Student Assistants contribute to campus events such as Week of Welcome, Homecoming, Spring Concert, and pop-up programs. Applicants must be currently enrolled at Georgia College & State University at least half-time and able to maintain a flexible schedule around their classes. Responsibilities Front Desk - 35 You are the first person that anyone sees when entering the office. Please be welcoming and greet all guests with a smile. Answer the Phone Help with any office tasks that may come up during your shift. Oversee the Student Resource Room Make sure all lights are turned off and office door is shut and locked Den Desk - 35 Responsible for turning on all TV's to show Bright Sign, uncovering pool tables, and turning on Arcade games. Along with turning on the DEN sign behind the desk Responsible for checking DEN equipment in and out to GCSU students ONLY. You are not to leave any equipment out and left unattended. Responsible for turning off all TV's, covering up pool tables, turning arcade games off, turning off DEN sign, and locking up equipment in DEN desk cabinets Other Duties - 30 Perform other duties as assigned such as working pop up events, Week of Welcome, Homecoming, and Spring Concert support In this office we would like all employees to have the mindset of "all hands-on deck". Outside of your scheduled shifts you will be required to work at least 3 events if your schedule allows it. Event staff Event tasks will be catered to the specific event that is being put on. Thunder's Handler Required Qualifications Other Required Qualifications Current enrollment as a student at the institution; at least halftime status (6 credit hours) Ability to work a flexible schedule around class commitments Proposed Salary The proposed salary is $10/hour Other Information This is not a supervisory position. This position does not have any financial responsibilities. This position will not be required to drive. This role is not considered a position of trust. This position does not require a purchasing card (P-Card). This position will not travel This position does not require security clearance.
