Job Description

Marrow in the Market Events Coordinator Marrow in the Market Detroit, MI Job Details Part-time | Full-time 5 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Paid time off Paid sick time Qualifications Google Workspace Moving Driver's License Productivity software Full Job Description The role Marrow in the Market is a restaurant at Eastern Market, built directly above a professional meat processing facility. We host up to 150 guests across two floors, a patio, and two bars: corporate dinners, weddings, rehearsal dinners, and our own programming. Our Events Manager sells the events. You run them. You also help build the calendar of nights we create ourselves, from chef collaboration dinners to ticketed game-day brunches. This is a hands-on job. You will be on the floor most nights an event is happening, moving tables, briefing servers, and fixing the thing that just went sideways. What you'll own Execution. Once a contract is signed, you take it: banquet event orders, floor plans, run-of-show timelines, rentals, AV, setup and breakdown. You are the client's point of contact for every detail after the sale. Event nights. You brief the service team, hold the timeline, and make the call when the timeline breaks. You are the person the kitchen and the floor both look at. In-house programming. Chef collaboration dinners, ticketed nights, football brunches, wine and film pairings. You help shape the calendar, then handle the ticketing page, the guest count, the vendor lineup, and the day itself. Vendors and partners. Rentals, florals, entertainment, offsite catering logistics, and the craft partners we program with around Detroit. Closeout. Post-event notes, client follow-up, photos and content passed to our social lead, and clean records back in the tracker so the next event starts smarter. What this role is not You are not selling. Inbound leads, quotes, pricing negotiation, and contracts stay with the Events Manager. If you want to grow into sales later, that door is open, but this job is judged on execution. Who we're looking for One to three years in restaurants, catering, hotels, or event production. The title doesn't matter. Banquet captain, lead server, festival production assistant, or someone who has been throwing their own dinners and pop-ups counts.
What matters:
You care about food and drink beyond it being a job. You have opinions about what's good in this city. You are relentless about details. Nobody has to check your floor plan twice. You get calmer as the night gets harder. You read a room and adjust without being told. You bring ideas. We want the person who says "we should do a whole-animal dinner with the distillery in February." Practical requirements: weeknight and weekend availability, comfort on your feet for long shifts, able to lift 50 pounds, valid driver's license for offsite events, and fluency in Google Workspace. We will teach you our event and POS systems. Schedule and pay Competitive hourly pay with potential to earn extra commission. Starting at 25 to 30 hours a week, moving to full time as the event calendar fills.
Hours follow the events:
expect weeknights, weekends, and the occasional early load-in. Shift meal, staff discount across Marrow and The Royce, and paid sick time under Michigan law. [Add health benefits / PTO if full time.] We promote from inside. The Events Manager path is the obvious next step for someone who runs this job well for a year.
