JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for developing procedures to ensure the safe use of all equipment and property in the High School and Middle School theaters and for providing technical services necessary for proper operation of stage and auditorium equipment. Responsibilities also include facilitating High School theater productions and providing the technical support necessary for successful productions, as well as the general cleanliness, security and repair of the auditorium and stage areas. The position is also responsible for managing theater rentals and providing support for the use of district theater facilities by the school and general public. The schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, which includes evening and weekend hours during auditorium events. The schedule shall include regularly scheduled office hours and availability to staff and students.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Other essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following: Developing, following, and enforcing safety procedures and policies for the safe use and operation of all theater equipment and facilities, including supervision of events or scheduling staff to supervise events. Facilitating and supervising High School theatre productions, including coordinating technical and operational needs, schedules, spaces, equipment, staffing, and working with directors, staff, students, crews, and other production personnel to ensure successful productions. Managing theatre rentals and facility use by the general public, including communicating with renters and event organizers to determine the needs of each event, preparing the space accordingly, reviewing and understanding facility use agreements, coordinating schedules and event needs, and ensuring compliance with district procedures and facility use requirements. Collaborating with and providing support for all theatre program activities and events, including High School, Middle School, and Elementary theatre programming, theatre clubs, theatre field trips, theatre workshops, and other theatre activities. Coordinating with district staff, community organizations, event organizers, and other facility users to ensure appropriate preparation, access, staffing, and support for theatre events and rentals. Managing the Middle School and High School auditorium event scheduling, including school productions, district events, and public facility rentals, and maintaining the theatre staff work schedule. Recruiting, retaining, hiring, and evaluating necessary event technicians, interns, temporary staff, stage crew, and other event management personnel, including initiating requests for performance contracts. Ensuring that all staff, volunteers, and vendors have proper background checks and clearances required and approved by Human Resources prior to being allowed on site. Maintaining the availability and readiness of theatre facilities for school productions, district events, and public rentals, including general cleanliness, security, and proper condition of the auditorium and stage areas. Making basic repairs, troubleshooting, and researching solutions for broken theater equipment, reporting defective or hazardous theater equipment and conditions, and knowing when to call a vendor. Ordering batteries, gaff and spike tape, office supplies, and other consumable items necessary for the operation of theater equipment, as well as larger items such as tools, stage curtains, and other technical equipment. Lifting and moving lights and other stage equipment as necessary to accommodate each user's needs. Reading, creating, and updating theater documentation and creating, maintaining, and managing content on theater-related digital signage. Assisting in the development of the annual auditorium budget. Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology and Media Services or district administration.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Degree in Theatre or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant theatre experience. Minimum of one year's experience in theatre operations, production, or facility management. Minimum of one year of supervisory or related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills. Ability to assess equipment and inventory, do corresponding research when gaps in functionality are observed, and make recommendations for large purchases. Ability to read and write theater documentation. Knowledge of federal, state, local and Board of Education laws, policies, regulations, and procedures relating to auditorium management. Ability to exercise good judgment, resourcefulness, and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, and the community. Working knowledge of lighting systems and design. Working knowledge of audio and sound equipment. Working knowledge of stage rigging. Working knowledge of construction and set design. Knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software programs and their applications. Ability to demonstrate the character traits of respect, responsibility, honesty, and caring when interacting with staff, students, and community members.

The noise level in the work environment is typical for a school theater office. There can be moments of quiet, or moments of high activity depending on the situation.
